OUR STORY

It began around a kitchen table in 2013, with cups of coffee, shared tears and a need to heal.

After losing someone dear to us, a family friend and I found comfort in creating together. We made little home decor pieces, beaded jewellery and handmade treasures - anything that brought a little light back into difficult days.

What started as a way to heal slowly became something more.

We hosted a small market for friends and family and never imagined people would connect so deeply with what we had made. But they did. Especially a tiny pair of bird earrings that captured everyone's hearts. Those little birds will always be the ones that started it all.

One market became another. One customer became many. Then one day, my friend returned from a trip with the most beautiful sterling silver earrings. They felt different - timeless, meaningful and lasting. In that moment, we knew we had found our direction.

I've always loved design, technology and connecting people with beautiful things, so I built our first online store, long before online shopping became what it is today in South Africa.

And so Poppy Dots Design was born.

I'll never forget our first online order. A complete stranger trusted us enough to buy something we had chosen with care. It felt extraordinary.

Over the years, Poppy Dots Design grew quietly, steadily and beautifully. My dear friend has since moved on to new adventures, but our friendship remains, and I'll always be grateful for the role she played in helping bring this dream to life.

Today, thirteen years later, Poppy Dots Design has become more than a jewellery store. What began as a creative outlet during a difficult season has grown into a business built on connection, trust and meaningful jewellery.

We specialise in sterling silver, freshwater pearl and gemstone jewellery, pieces designed to be worn often, loved deeply and treasured for years to come.

We've come to believe that jewellery is rarely just jewellery. It's the bracelet you wear every day, the earrings you're never without, the necklace that quietly becomes part of your story.

The pieces we wear become woven into our memories. They witness celebrations, milestones, new beginnings and ordinary Tuesdays. Over time, they become part of who we are.
